Cherry Pie by Heather Jansch

Cherry Pie is one of Jansch’s life-size foals and is pictured here in the original driftwood (shown in Heather’s garden at her Olchard studio). She was also one of the first of Heather’s life-size sculptures and an early foray in to bronze casting.

Jansch’s life-size foals remain enduring favorites, two examples of which reside at The Eden Project, serving as placeholders while The Eden Horse is restored in preparation for bronze casting. In addition to this sculpture other examples of Heather’s foals include Sugar Babe, Dylan, and Sugar Plum.

We have reason to believe a cast from the edition resides in a royal collection. It had long been thought that the moulds for that edition of Cherry Pie did not form part of the artist’s estate and as a result the edition had been closed. However, in a recent discovery we have identified the original moulds, and are now able to re-open the edition.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested in a bronze and we will discuss the casting process with you. We will also consider offers for the driftwood orginal.

This piece forms part of Heather Jansch’s series of life-size foals, but other examples of her work include her life-size driftwood and bronze horses explified by The Eden Horse for example. Her smaller work for interiors include sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series for instance, and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.

We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began. As a result, many of her sculptures remain available for purchase. The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset, UK, continue to represent Heather and as a result are able to offer work for purchase. They can also advise on the commissioning process from Heather bronze editions.
