About This Piece
Created at the start of the driftwood to bronze translation project, “RaRa” is modelled after the artist’s own Arabian horse of the same name. This was the first complete driftwood horse of Jansch’s to be cast in bronze (the Tang horses had preceded them, but these were a more traditional plaster model). In an edition of 9 the moulds have possibly been found for this piece, however the driftwood original has long since disappeared. It is not known whether it was sold, or destroyed in the casting process.
