RaRa (head) by Heather Jansch
This bronze forms part of a series of small heads created at the Sedgewell Coach House studio in the early 2000s. There is also a complete horse of “RaRa” in bronze, for which the moulds have not yet been identified, but because of the striking similarities to that piece, we think this small head may be a derivation from that larger bronze.
In 2021 a cast from the bronze edition of RaRa (head) was donated to the Devon Artist Network because they wanted to estblish an annual award to recognise the contribution to Devon Open Studios by an artist or venue; Heather’s long supported the event.
Other examples in the series include: Beethoven, Neptune and Sofia.

Other sculpture by Heather Jansch
Other examples of her work include her enduringly popular life-size foals such as Dylan. Her smaller work for interiors included sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series, but is exemplified by the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.
We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began and so Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset, UK. As a result, many of her sculptures remain available for purchase.
