Friesian by Heather Jansch
Friesian is a newly discovered sculpture by Heather which, until now, had only been seen in a solitary low-resolution (and slightly out-of-focus) image of the original taken in Heather’s studio.
In early 2026 we discovered some moulds labelled “Friesian” and on investigation with Heather’s foundry, determined that the mould records existed. Those records indicated that only two from the planned edition of twelve had been cast. Learning this we commissioned number three in the edition and the sculpture pictured here is the result.
In scale Friesian sits somewhere between Heather’s very smallest bronze heads, such as Neptune, and the slightly larger examples like Sentinel.
Our records indicate that the original of Friesian was commissioned of Heather in 2016, and that it was always intended to be moulded for bronze. This places Friesian towards the later part of Heather’s output.

Other sculpture by Heather Jansch
Other examples of Heather’s work include the enduringly popular life-size foals, exemplified by sculptures such as Cherry Pie. Heather’s small work for interiors included a collection of sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series for example, and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work, and newly available in bronze. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.
We have an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began. Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Pangolin London. Many of her sculptures are available for purchase as a result.
