Sentinel by Heather Jansch
Because of the popularity of her small work, later in her career Jansch created a series of small driftwood heads, with the express intention of casting in bronze. Sentinel is one such. With his indomitable manner he’s reminiscent of one of Heather’s life-size sculptures, Resolute. You might imagine the pair would be sufficient to guard any portal.
Others in the series include: Sharza and Jupiter.
Sentinel is available in an edition of twelve in Bronze and we have also recently found the driftwood original of this sculpture. If you would like to see it in the flesh, it will form part of an exhibition at Moorwood Art in November 2024.

Other sculpture by Heather Jansch
Other examples of her work include her enduringly popular life-size foals such as Cheery Pie. Heather’s other small work for interiors included sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series for example, and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.
We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began and so Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset, UK. As a result, many of her sculptures remain available for purchase.
