Bellerophon by Heather Jansch

Bellerophon came in the midst Heather’s output, and is characterised by the purity of material Heather found as her process matured. The driftwood original of Bellerophon was made in approximately 2005 and spent many years in a private collection, although the owner has recently returned him to us to begin the process of translation in to a glorious bronze edition of twelve.

Bellerophon is one of Heather’s rare free standing horses, and has a spring to his step that is the hallmark of her very finest and most highly regarded work. In that regard he’s reminiscent of Beethoven, and RaRa, although the editions of those are nearing their end.

Get in touch if you would like to be kept informed of the progress of the bronze translation project or would like to commission a cast. It is in the early stages, but we expect the first in the numbered edition will be available in the Autumn of 2025.

Other examples of Heather’s work include the enduringly popular life-size foals, exemplified by sculptures such as Cherry Pie. Heather’s small work for interiors included a collection of sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series for example, and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.

There is an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began and so Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Pangolin London. Many of her sculptures are available for purchase as a result.
