The Landing by Heather Jansch
The Landing is the companion piece to Heather’s ever-popular “Sweet September“. Like her sibling, The Landing shares a palpable sense of drama that reveals itself as you move around the sculpture. Very much a piece of two sides, The Landing leaps out at you unexpectedly.
She is one of only two of Heather’s life-sized sculptures that is supported on one foot. Unlike Sweet September, however, this sculpture has the distinction of being the tallest piece to come from Heather’s studio: The Landing stands over nine feet in height.
We are uncertain about the date of The Landing, however we’re confident that it hails from a period informed by Heather’s 2007 residency at Art Sella in Italy. During that time Heather first made a series of distinctly two dimensional sculptures of running and leaping horses.
The Landing spent many years at Heather’s sculpture garden in Olchard, before eventually succumbing to the ravages of time. Now fully restored, she is ready to be translated in to bronze at Heather’s foundry.

Other sculpture by Heather Jansch
This piece forms part of Heather Jansch’s series of life-size horses. Other examples of her work include her enduringly popular life-size foals such as Dylan. Her smaller work for interiors included sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series, and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.
We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began. As a result, Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Pangolin London. Many of her sculptures remain available for purchase.
