He’s Not Heavy by Heather Jansch
In a play on words, Jansch titled this sculpture He’s Not Heavy depsite the fact that he is both the smallest, and lightest, sculpture made by Heather (small enough to fit in your pocket).
In a divergence from her ususal equine subject matter and medium, the elephants gave Heather some moments of levity, the elephant having always been another of her fascinations. This one forms part of a series of elephants created specifically for bronze and is available in an editon of fifteen.
If you would like any information about the bronze edtion, please contact us with any questions you might have.
Other elephants in the bronze series include Child and Matriarch

Other sculpture by Heather Jansch
This piece forms part of Heather Jansch’s series of elephants, but other examples of her work include her enduringly popular life-size foals, such as Clover and most famously, her life-size horses, best illustrated by The Eden Horse. Heather also made smaller work for interiors, an example being the magnificent Etalon, which regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women. In addition to this, Heather also made a series of sculptures inspired by Tang Dynasty imagery, an example of which is Jeunesse.
We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began and so Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset, UK. As a result, many of her sculptures remain available for purchase.
