Recruit

Recruit is one of Jansch’s later driftwood heads, although the exact date is unknown. Near life-size, this is the driftwood and Objet Trouvé original. Until recently it was thought that moulds for bronze existed for this peice, however this turns out not to be the case.

This piece served as Heather’s gate guardian for many years, interrogating every visitor as they entered her studio at Olchard.

The driftwood original has recently sold to a private collection.

Other examples of her work include her enduringly popular life-size foals such as Dylan. Her smaller work for interiors included sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work. In a departure from her usual practice, Heather also produced a series of dancers and warrior women.

We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began and so Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset, UK. As a result, many of her sculptures remain available for purchase.

Our exhibitions page has details of upcoming shows, but if you would are considering a purchase and would like to arrange a viewing or additional photographs you are welcome to get in touch.
