Warrior No. 4 by Heather Jansch
Heather Jansch is famous for her equine work, but, unknown to many, she also found a freedom of expression in figurative sculpture. In the early 2010s Jansch sculpted a series of warriors and dancers, Warrior No. 4 being one such.
With these figures there is a clear visual link back to the life-drawing classes held at her Ashburton studio, and a fluidity of line that is the very definition of Jansch’s style. One or two have been cast in bronze, but in the main they exist only in their original mixed media/objet trouvé form.
Others in the series include: Warrior No. 1 and Terpsichore

Other sculpture by Heather Jansch
This piece forms part of Heather Jansch’s series of dancers and warrior women. Other examples of her work include, most famously, her life-size driftwood and bronze horses, such as Apollo. Her smaller work for interiors included sculptures like Jeunesse from her Tang series, and the magnificent Etalon, regarded by many as her very finest work.
We are following an active programme of casting from Heather’s moulds to finish the editions she began. Thus Heather’s work continues to be exhibited on a regular basis, and can be seen at The Diehl Gallery in Jackson, WY, and Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset, UK. As a result, many of her sculptures remain available for purchase.
Our exhibitions page has details of upcoming shows, but if you would are considering a purchase and would like to arrange a viewing or additional photographs you are welcome to get in touch.
