Madrugada

Madrugada carries a truly formidable presence and is Jansch’s only larger than life-size sculpture. Were he a complete horse he would undoubtedly stand far higher than any Shire.

Jansch’s artistry is at the zenith of her practice in this piece, so the life within him is as palpable as it is with the very best of her work. To create such a visually virile representation of the equine form with just a few scraps of driftwood is the perfect demonstration of why Jansch is considered one of the UK’s finest artists. Place Madrugada at your gates and passing miscreants are sure to steer clear.

The driftwood original is sold and is destined for a private collection, however, Heather also created moulds for bronze. The first cast in the edition of five is due to be completed in 2024.
